Come join to celebrate light on one of the darkest days of the year! We will welcome Santa Lucia with her crown of candles, joined by children bringing song and light into the darkness of winter.
In Sweden, Saint Lucia Day (or Sankta Lucia) is December’s holiday of light – a sacred day that commemorates St Lucia, a young Christian martyr who died for her faith. According to the legends, St Lucia wore a wreath laden with candles, so she could fill her hands with food that she would secretly deliver to Christian’s in hiding in the Roman catacombs under the city.
Mayo Street Arts is celebrating the holiday a week early this year to celebrate the Danish Lutheran history of our space.
Run Time: Approximately 75 minutes, with no intermission.
STANDARD or PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN options are available online for this event. Per ticket service fee varies depending on ticket price.
