Armenian Melodies Through the Ages with the Maine Middle Eastern Orchestra, featuring the legendary oud and clarinet virtuoso, Mal Barsamian.
Maine Middle Eastern Orchestra and Mal Barsamian have put together a beautiful program of Armenian music from the classical and folk traditions. Their repertoire will feature music from the legendary composer of Ottoman art music, Tatyos Ekserciyan, lively traditional folk dances, love songs by Udi Hrant, and the premier of an Alan Shavarsh Bardezbanian composition that was recently discovered.
Maine Middle Eastern Orchestra is made up of music faculty members from Bowdoin, Bates, and Colby Colleges, the Portland Conservatory of Music, as well as musicians from the world renowned New York Arabic Orchestra, DaPonte String Quartet, Okbari Middle Eastern Ensemble, Seyir Duo, and the Casco Bay Tummlers.
RUN TIME: approx 1.5 hr including intermission
ADULT and CHILD & STUDENT prices are available online for this event.
Per ticket service fee varies from $2 – $5 depending on ticket price.

This newly renovated space at 28 Neal St in Portland’s idyllic West End features a stage constructed out of the pews originally housed in the former church’s space at PCM. The performance space now seats approximately 150.
