Dimensions in Jazz

PCM

2 shows for the price of 1!

Start the evening with improvisation and compositions by some of the leading exponents of baritone saxophone and trombone with Josh Sinton and Jeb Bishop, then hear RJ Miller and Pat Corrigan live ambient

Josh Sinton, baritone sax, bass clarinet, alto flute
Jeb Bishop, trombone

RJ Miller, drums

Baritone saxophonist Josh Sinton and trombonist Jeb Bishop met in the mid-90’s in Chicago in the midst of a resurgence of creative music-making happening there, but it took over twenty years before they decided to capitalize on their long-time friendship to create music together. They draw on a wealth of unique resources for their duo compositions and improvisations that are informed by very different and very complimentary life experiences.

RJ Miller is a North-American drummer and composer whose technical competencies in jazz are complemented by an interest in the exploration of electronic and ambient music. He’s collaborated with musicians like Aaron Parks, Bill McHenry, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ben Street, Thomas Morgan, Jorge Rossy and Jakob Bro (to name a few) as well as persistently working his own solo projects.

“Electronic music comes in all sounds, colors, and textures, but drummer RJ Miller exploits the ambient side with chilled themes and moody soundscapes. The soul in the machine lies in the way Miller expertly juxtaposes his drum kit with piano, keyboards, and analog synthesizers through infectious melodies that move and groove.” — Mark F. Turner, All About Jazz 2013

Longtime collaborators Miller and Corrigan will be throwing some sonics on the silence
