Canadian pianist Sophia Liu is quickly emerging among most compelling pianist of her generation. Liu’s “phenomenal virtuosity” (Bachtrack), coupled with her “poise and authority” (Boston Musical Intelligencer) and dynamic interpretations captivate and mesmerize audiences worldwide. Born in Shanghai, raised in Japan, and studying in Montreal – Liu is an international prize winner, sought-after soloist and festival standout, Liu’s program for Portland Ovations audiences includes works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Franz Schubert, and Frédéric Chopin.
