THE BARB TRUEX PROJECT is a curious moniker: Why not “Sextet” or “Band”? Its use hints at the approach Truex takes when provided opportunities to interact with a serious listening audience. From her earliest musical performance days in the 1970’s she has never shied away from putting together a program that might only have one performance. In so doing, she entices a wide range of musicians…dancers…poets…and even clowns…to collaborate on singular, truly unique performances. In addition to a great ensemble of musicians, Truex has invited special guest Michael Trautman to bring his peculiar mix of clown, mime, and magic skills to this October show. His talent will be featured primarily with Truex’s Clown Suite, a series of ukulele compositions inspired by her love of “circus music”, but as rehearsals develop, we may find him popping up in more places.
