The Seal Bay Festival’s mission is to make American chamber music a welcoming and inspiring experience for concert audiences, young musicians, school children, and artists across all media, in a geographical and cultural setting (year-round south- and mid-coast Maine) little served by new American music. The goal is to bring these communities together with a diverse and inclusive array of passionate, top-tier performers and both established and emerging composers.
Performers: clarinetist Bixby Kennedy; pianists Doris Stevenson (Williams College faculty) and George Lopez (Bowdoin College faculty); violinist Muneko Otani (1st violinist of the Cassatt String Quartet); composers Joan Tower (“Wings” and “Wingspan”), Ileana Perez Velazquez (“Vitrales), Daniel Strong Godfrey (“From a Dream of Russia”), and Vineet Shende (Bowdoin College faculty—world premiere of a new work for solo clarinet).
