With an engaging blend of music, narration, and historical photographs, Twin Keys tells the remarkable musical love story of Pierre Luboshutz and Genia Nemenoff — narrator Thomas Wolf’s great uncle and aunt — and one of the greatest duo-piano teams of all time. Their journey spans from the shores of the Black Sea through the great capitals of Europe, including a musical romance at the Paris Conservatory, to Carnegie Hall and a landmark appearance with superstar conductor Arturo Toscanini. At once sweeping and intimate, this delightful program also takes one backstage, revealing the personal, sometimes heartbreaking, stories of these celebrated artists with humor and affection. The performance features the dynamic duo-piano team of Michael Shinn and Jessica Chow Shinn featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Richard Strauss, Gioachino Rossini, and Darius Milhaud, and showcasing two of the University of Southern Maine’s magnificent new Steinway concert grand pianos.
