Closing out Ovations’ 96th season, slidin’ thru from acclaimed choreographer and performer Jeremy Nedd, transforms Portland’s Kennedy Park into a joyful, free, and open-to-the-public celebration of movement, music, and community. Set to the nostalgic grooves and social dances of the 1970s and 80s, this high-energy outdoor performance blends line dancing, street dance, and contemporary movement into a shared ritual of rhythm and connection. Rooted in resilience, play, and collective joy, slidin’ thru reflects on what it means to stay supple, keep cool, and practice joyful resistance in precarious times. Inviting audiences of all ages and backgrounds to gather in the heart of Portland, the piece culminates in a celebratory dance party that turns performance into shared experience.
