Marilyn Crispell – Piano
Harvey Sorgen – Drums
After many decades performing and recording with some of the most important musicians of our generation (including two previous records they did together in a trio format), 2025 NEA Jazz Master Marilyn Crispell and Harvey Sorgen come together in duo. Released on the FSR Record Label, ‘FOREST’ is the natural outgrowth of two seminal improvisers coming together to express their deep commitment to the art form of the now….
The premise was to record the duo as an ensemble interacting totally in the moment with no preconceived notions of where the music should go. The only constant was to remain honest and “speak” through sound in and about our attention of our place at the moment.
These musicians’ collective history accompanied by the need to play music outside of any vacuum leads to the unique and intrinsic nature of this outing….Truth. This Concert will highlight this ethic…
