Osher School of Music

valentine's day
with Callie Brennan
& Laura kargul

Sponsored by Tenney S. and Newell A. Augur

Please note rescheduled date due to weather. Ticket holders should contact PortTIX if you can’t make the new date.

Join violinist Callie Brennan and pianist Laura Kargul as they make their duo debut in the Osher School of Music’s 13th annual Valentine’s Day Concert, a southern Maine tradition introduced and established by the beloved Lantz-Kargul Duo. Brennan, a former student of Ronald Lantz, recently filled the Portland String Quartet position vacated by his retirement in 2022, and it is to Lantz’s delight that she is also taking up the mantle as Kargul’s new duo partner.

This year’s program will traverse the spectrum of emotions associated with romantic love through music written between 1888 and 1969; from Jacques de La Presle’s ecstatic sonata written in the heat of passion for his young fiancée, to Piazzolla’s “Soledad,” a heart-breaking lament. The duo will also present several swoon-worthy atmospheric works by Sibelius, Chausson and Canteloube.

ADULT, SENIOR, CHILD & STUDENT, and USM FACULTY & ALUMNI prices are available online for this event.
Per ticket service fee varies from $2 – $3 depending on ticket price.
