North Star Baroque:
Vivaldi's The Four Seasons
Enjoy North Star Baroque’s debut performance of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, featuring Grammy nominated concertmaster of Boston Baroque, Christina Day Martinson, baroque violin. The Boston Globe describes Martinson as having a “Fearless technique and, best of all, a delightful sense of spontaneity and imagination.”
Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons are not only among the most popular pieces of classical music today, but they circulated widely in the composer’s time, inspired programmatic pieces by others, and influences the works of Bach. The Seasons were first published in Amsterdam in 1725 as the first four of a set of twelve concertos by Vivaldi. These four violin concerti give a musical representation for each season, taking its listeners on a narrative journey through the sounds and wonders of a full year.
