About the Performers:

Seth Aker is a tubist and educator holding a Bachelor of Music Education from the Baylor University School of Music. While at Baylor, he studied under Dr. Kent Eshelman and performed with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra and the Baylor Wind Ensemble. Notably, he was selected to perform with the Baylor Graduate Brass Quintet under the coaching of Wiff Rudd. Seth has honed his craft through performances in master classes for renowned tubists Oystein Baadsvik, Mike Forbes, and Pat Sheridan. His orchestral experience extends to serving as a core member of the Adirondack Performing Arts Fellowship Orchestra. Equally passionate about the marching arts, Seth is a former member of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, contributing to their historic DCI World Championship win in 2016. Now based in Biddeford, Maine, Seth is eager to contribute to the local arts community and collaborate with fellow musicians in the region.

Jimi Michel is a Portland-based trumpet player, musicologist, and educator who has performed in orchestras, jazz bands and theatre pits throughout the United States, including as Principal Trumpet of the New York String Orchestra, as a substitute with the Syracuse Symphony, and with members of the Sacramento Philharmonic. As a musicologist, he has written program notes for the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, as well as for performances by members of the Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, and New York Philharmonic. Jimi holds performance degrees from the Interlochen Arts Academy and the New England Conservatory and his principal teachers were Charlie Schlueter, Gary Bordner, and Terry Caviness.
