piano quartet
Four celebrated musicians, the lauded Sharon Robinson (cello) and Jaime Laredo (violin), stellar violist Milena Pájaro-van de Stadt (formerly of the Dover Quartet) and award-winning pianist Anna Polonsky come together to form a new quartet that showcases their wonderfully expressive playing, musicality, virtuosity and joy of performing.
Considered among the treasures of chamber music literature are the quartets for piano and strings by Johannes Brahms, Antonín Leopold Dvorák, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Gabriel Fauré. These works, along with possible pairings of fascinating duos, or the addition of double bass for Franz Schubert’s glorious “Trout” inspire this vibrant ensemble’s programs. Included in the program is a dynamic brand-new work, co-commissioned by Ovations, created especially for the quartet by composer Nokuthula Ngwenyama.
