Asa Meyer-Waldo, Double Bass
Josie Lawrence, Voice
We will be performing a wide variety of music from Brazilian Bossa nova and samba, to the Great American songbook and beyond: an intimate set of songs stripped down to two distinct voices. The ethereal musings of Lawrence’s vocals and the rooted rhythmic exploration of Meyers’ double bass will transport the listener to a far away land.
These songs have ushered us into new chapters of life time and time again. Whether about love, loss, the beauty of our world or the possibilities of the next, we believe in the power of song. Not only does this power aid the listener in connecting with the world around them, it helps them to connect deeper with themself. In the intimate setting that PCM provides, our hope is to guide the listener towards parts of themselves they may not be familiar with, or perhaps have even forgotten.
Josie has a soft spot for songs that tell a good story. An active singer in the greater Portland area, she shares her love of storytelling with music that spans genres. As a freelance vocalist, Josie performs in several music projects, particularly jazz quartets and ensembles. Recurring groups Josie appears in are the Clifford Cameron Combo, a folk/chamber music ensemble, and the RnB band Josie and the Big Blue Worm. Look out for her debut album, Komorebi, to be released in 2025!
