James Kennerley, Portland Municipal Organist

James Kennerley leads FOKO’s annual celebration of the “grandfather of classical music,” Johann Sebastian Bach. The combination of internationally recognized scholar and interpreter of Bach (Kennerley) with the Kotzschmar Organ, one of the finest organs in the world, is special indeed. Join us for a musical and intellectual exploration of the “Shakespeare” of composers, the composer of modest origins whose profound influence on music for the next 300+ years cannot possibly be overstated. Bach’s music is of such profound beauty that it leaves novices and experts alike stunned and moved.

This digital event is a recording of the March 22, 2024 concert performed for a live audience in Merrill Auditorium. Online access to the recording will be available from March 29 through April 29. Viewing information link will be sent directly in the email confirmation.
